Herk Hervey himself introduces this particular copy of CARNIVAL OF SOULS. He talks about how he wanted to make an eerie film, perhaps in the style of Cocteau. Not having seen any Cocteau films, I can’t say how close Hervey came to succeeding, but this IS a haunting film.
This movie went into public domain some time ago, so you can find it on DVD for as little as one buck. Recommended, even though the ending is completely obvious.
