This movie marks the last appearance (in an Ed Wood film, anyway) of Paul Marco as everyone’s favorite cop, Kelton. Kelton, of course, was in BRIDE OF THE MONSTER and PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE as well. Before his death a few years ago, Mr. Marco was doing quite well for himself selling Kelton the Cop memorabilia to fans via his website.
NIGHT OF THE GHOULS also has the Wood family chiropractor, Thomas Mason, leaning up and speaking from his coffin at the end of the movie. Dr. Mason, as you may know, was the man Ed chose to stand in for Bela Lugosi to complete the filming of PLAN 9.
Look for short, fat Harvey Dunn at the beginning when he and his wife see the “White Ghost” (Valda Hansen) strolling through a cemetery. If Dunn isn’t overacting in the police station scene, then I don’t know what else to call it.
The story is about a fake medium who, in a NIGHT GALLERY-like twist, discovers that communicating with the dead is more real than he thought.
Rating: the movie gets 2 ghouls out of a possible 10. Harvey Dunn himself gets 4 ghouls for his stand-out performance.
