Criswell gets more screen time here than he ever has in a movie – and uses it to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that he has no acting ability whatsoever.
Ed Wood only scripted this (based on his novel – yes, a “real” novel), but did not direct. That job fell to Stephen Apostolof aka A.C. Stephens. There are Wood “touches” in the direction, though, such as the day/night/day back and forth shots.
Stripper Fawn Silver plays Ghoulita, the Vampira-type chick. Her best scenes are with no dialogue and with the camera lovingly focused on her heaving, beautiful white…..er, snack trays.
Plot, you ask? A couple is stranded near a cemetery and are taken hostage by the “Emperor of the Night”, Criswell and his Wolfman and Mummy companions. He forces the humans to watch as he calls forth dead strippers who dance for the captive audience, as they presumably will dance for the Emperor every night for eternity. The sun comes up during the last performance and everyone vanishes, leaving the couple to escape and ponder what just happened to them.
Toplessness abounds. I was surprised to see that the woman who is one of the captives has a double role wherein she’s parading around and dancing topless as well.
Other than being a boob fest, this picture is pretty dull and not worth rating.
Oh, did I mention that Criswell couldn’t act?
