SEX MADNESS (THEY MUST BE TOLD)

I imagine with the succesful re-titling of TELL YOUR CHILDREN to REEFER MADNESS, and its consequential cult status, that the distributors of THEY MUST BE TOLD probably hoped to strike the same kind of gold by re-naming this one SEX MADNESS. Has a certain ring to it, doesn’t it?

The story follows Millicent, a showgirl wannabe, and how she contracts a “social disease” during the course of climbing the career ladder. At some point she is treated by a quack and the syphilis continues to rage in her body after her marriage and the subsequent birth of her baby. The infant falls deathly ill and the husband is losing his eyesight. Just when Millicent is desperate enough to attempt suicide, a call from a friend changes everything. Ah, hope looms on the horizon!

2 extra shorts are included, both produced by the Department of the Navy, HYGIENE FOR MEN and HYGIENE FOR WOMEN. The only real hygiene I see being promoted in these shorts is “moral” hygiene. The focus of both these presentations is the dangers of contracting syphilis and letting it go unchecked. Both shorts are in color, the main feature in black and white.
